game design that isn’t shy
Hello!
Xander Kehn is a game designer/producer based in Vancouver, BC. They acquired their Bachelors of Game Design from Sheridan College in Oakville, ON.
Below are recent noteworthy projects:
Re:Rite
lead level designer
Transform from a tiny, scrappy survivor into a skyscraper-sized Kaiju, as you fight through swarms of enemies in this chaotic PvE game. Hack-and-slash through hordes of spider-bots, clear through crowds with bullet-hell ranged weapons, and even team up with up to 3 friends in online co-op.
Working as the sole Level Designer for this game, creating fully-destructible isometric levels with the unique challenge of ensuring they are engaging at multiple scales.
Fresh Tracks
level design / product management
Fresh Tracks is a rhythm-adventure game on skis where you swing your sword to the beat of the music!
Hired as a level designer, and with one other talented designer created dynamic and rhythmic levels for each of the game’s 28 original songs, crafting obstacles and high impact moments that timed perfectly with the soundtrack. As of 2025 was moved onto production tasks, in particular console porting/publishing, convention/showcase planning and general production tasks to ensure the launch targets were met with flying colours.
BirdseedVR
technical designer
Snap pics of the chunkiest, cutest birds in BirdseedVR! Relax in lush forests, complete quirky daily quests, and fill your Journal. Whether you’re birding alone or together with friends, get cozy and escape to nature.
Working closely with the development team, worked as a technical designer to create and implement bird behaviours and flight patterns to create quirky and adorable moments for players to enjoy together.
mtion worlds
game design / level design / ui
MXM (formerly Mtion Worlds) is a ground breaking new tool that lets you live stream in 3D and engage with your fans via social minigames. Create, build, and share 3D environments, interactive minigames, and social experiences from a single app.
Hired as a game designer, but as is common with start-ups that role quickly diversified to include ux/ui as well as project management for the design team.
Station Etc.
game design / development / sound
A one-way ticket to a surreal and perspective-challenging first-person puzzle adventure! Developed with Unity as a thesis project with fellow 4th year Sheridan College Game Design students, Station Etc. is the culmination of 8-months of development that sought to create a unique and accessible experience focused on user-centric design principles and rapid Agile development.
Took on many roles in the small team:
game designer, developer, environment artist, sound design and composer
Survivorman VR
game design/virtual production assistant
Working as a Game Developer & Research Assistant with Cream Productions Digital and Sheridan College’s Screen Industries Research and Training Centre, design principles and technical skills in Unity VR development were applied to aid in the creation of an adventure game for the TV series Survivorman.
Using advanced photogrammetry techniques in a state-of-the-art virtual production studio, the team focused on the creation and implementation of true-to-life 3D avatars for use in the game.
Carpet Songs
solo passion project
A long running passion project, Carpet Songs blends visually unique, dreamlike worlds sourced from 3D Scanned real world objects to take players on a surreal journey through reimagined Canadian liminal spaces.
It aims to blend actual critical tourism research with non-violent narrative focused gameplay, incorporating elements of radical accessibility by having the entire game controllable with a standard 3-button mouse. It is currently in development.
more cool stuff:
With over a decade’s history performing in and recording musical acts, it’s only natural that Xander now applies their skills in 3D virtual worlds to create immersive and unusual music videos.
As a sort of “weird game art diary”, Xander likes to make surreal little vignettes of what makes games so wonderful as a medium: a coalescing of animation, sound, and graphics to create microcosms of abstract, character-focused kinetic sculptures that reflect emotions and personal affects.
Xander’s background in fine art and personal insatiable appetite for offbeat and unusual forms of expressive media results in a regular output of non-commercial, experimental interactive experiences: often surreal and humorous.
